Terms of service

Plain terms for a new kind of reading.

Written to be readable. The summary at the top is the practical version; the sections below are the full account.

The short version

  • — Only upload books you legally own or have the right to use.
  • — Private uploads are for your personal study and reading.
  • — Don't redistribute books or AI editions you didn't create.
  • — Official AI Editions are author- and publisher-approved.
  • — AI answers are grounded transformations of the text — not a replacement for the book itself.

Your uploads

You're responsible for the rights to anything you upload. By adding a book to your Private Library you confirm that you have a legal copy and that you'll use it for your own study and reading. We don't claim ownership of your uploads.

How AI answers work

AI responses are grounded in the source book and include citations. They are a tool for thinking with a text, not a replacement for it. They may occasionally be incomplete or imprecise.

Use your judgement, especially when an answer is the basis for a significant decision.

Official AI Editions

Official AI Editions are published by their authors or rights holders. Publishing an edition requires that you hold the rights to the work and that you accept our author terms, including verification.

Acceptable use

  • — Don't upload material you don't have the rights to.
  • — Don't use the service to generate content that misrepresents an author or work.
  • — Don't try to extract or redistribute book text in ways that bypass the source.

Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your account secure. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonable.
